July 13th, 2013 - Ashley/Justin
Recently we packed up the van and headed down the coast to the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival. Ashley and her folks have been attending this annual event for 4 years now and it's become a tradition, something to look forward to when summer rolls around.
Kate Wolf is a folk music festival held on an amazing piece of land in northern California. For three days 5,000 people come together to dance, sing, play music, skinny dip in the creek, and generally have a great time. It's an extremely wholesome and family friendly event, the kind of place where bare foot children weave through the crowd unattended and everyone feels like family. And, of course, the music is amazing. From blues to traditional folk and blue grass, there's something for everyone. And it should be mentioned that some of the food is amazing!
We spent a few days road tripping down the coast and back, stopping in the red woods to eat lunch, swimming in the Eel River, and camping next to the ocean. It was a great chance to get away from every day life, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Already can't wait for next year!
