It's been awhile since I've written anything about my health and my struggle with Lyme Disease so I wanted to give you all an update. If you missed the original post about this, here it is.
Thankfully I'm feeling a LOT better than I was when I wrote that initial post. It's been a slow process, and for many months there it felt like I wasn't making any headway. Every doctors appointment just brought more bad news, frustration and tears (I could pretty much count on having a melt down after leaving my doctors office).
About two months ago though I started taking a "cocktail" of antibiotics and have definitely noticed improvements! The swelling and joint pain (especially in my feet) has gone down considerably, so that I'm now able to get out for walks (which were sorely missed). I have a little more energy, and some of the other symptoms (headaches, fevers, anxiety, insomnia, to name a few) have more or less gone away. I've been nauseous quite a bit lately, but that may be an unfortunate side effect of the antibiotics.
Still, it is a slow and non-linear process: I may have one good day, followed by a few bad ones. And I'm definitely not out of the woods yet. The overall trajectory seems to be in a positive direction though, and to me that feels like a miracle of sorts.
In the meantime I'm doing my best to take care of myself; getting out for short walks on the beach, cooking good food, sleeping a lot, and working on my business and various projects. I feel hopeful and excited, and grateful to finally have some good news to report.
I so appreciate all of your support and encouragement in this, it really means the world to me. I hope that your fall is getting off to a good start and that you're all enjoying the change of seasons.
